Statement of Requirement
633 CES/CEF requires 6-year maintenance services on (111) 150 lb. Model 600 Wheeled Liquified Gas
Fire Extinguishers. The 6-year maintenance procedures are outlined in Technical Order (TO) 13F4-4-121, Paragraphs 5-12 through 5-15. The services must include:
1. Emptying the extinguisher of all pressure and chemical
2. Removing discharge valve assembly and disassembling by removing downtube, spring and valve stem assembly. Removing and discarding collar O-ring, pressure valve and cap assembly, pressure gauge, and safety outlet.
3. Thoroughly cleaning all parts of the disassembled valve with a soft bristle brush or soft cloth and perform the following steps:
a. Blow valve out with dry nitrogen.
b. Replace collar O-ring with new Amerex O-ring.
c. Replace pressure valve and cap assembly with new assembly using Teflon Tape (A-A-
58092).
d. Replace the valve stem assembly with proper Amerex assembly.
e. Replace pressure gauge with new gauge using Teflon Tape (A-A-58092).
f. Replace safety outlet with new safety outlet using Teflon Tape (A-A-58092).
g. Lightly lubricate the collar O-ring and valve stem O-ring (NOT THE VALVE STEM SEAL) with Parker Super “O” Lube or equivalent.
4. Reassembly of the valve assembly.
5. Inspection of the cylinder interior IAW the Compressed Gas Association Visual Inspection
Standard, Pamphlet C-6.
6. Cleaning the cylinder O-ring seating groove in the cylinder neck. Removal of any rust and cleaning the surface and lubricating the entire sealing area with a thin film of Parker Super “O”
Lube.
7. Installation of the valve assembly.
8. Removal of all ambient air from cylinder. If a vacuum purge system is not available, the cylinder must be purged by pressurizing the extinguisher to 90 psi with dry nitrogen (minimum dew point of -70°F). Checking for leaks while pressurized, then expelling the pressure and closing the valve.
9. Recharging the extinguisher.
Additionally, 633 CES/CEF requires the inspection of the down tube and valve assembly solder in accordance with the new Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) 13F4-4-501, published on 31 March 2021. This inspection should be conducted during the 6-year maintenance procedures outlined in TO 13F4-4-121. The inspection services must include:
1. A visual inspection to ensure solder joint is fully penetrated by solder. A good solder joint will have a completely full solder bead all the way around the tube/valve joint and form a “fillet” between the valve and the down tube. This bead must be fully filled around the circumference with no gaps.
2. If a visible gap (lack of solder) is found between the Retainer and Down Tube interface, replace downtube/retainer assembly with approved Amerex manufacturer part (P/N: 04938).
Statement of Requirement
3. Once the down tube inspection and replacement (if necessary) is complete, a decal stating “TCTO # 13F4-4-501” and “Date Completed” must be filled with the date of the inspection and affixed to the right hand side of each extinguisher’s discharge valve.
