About this file

This Statement of Objective (SOO) details a request by the 412th Security Forces Squadron (412 SFS) to upgrade the Entry Control Point (ECP) gate control system by installing external lane control buttons. The project involves adding ten external buttons, one for each lane, to the existing FAAC drop arm system, enabling gate guards to directly raise and lower arms independent of the primary control console.

The key objectives include improving traffic management, increasing operational redundancy, and enhancing security posture. Critical requirements specify that buttons must be clearly labeled, durable, weather-resistant, and fully compatible with the existing system. Installation must be performed by qualified FAAC system technicians, and the proposal must include a comprehensive maintenance and warranty plan. The upgrade aims to expedite vehicle processing, ensure continuous ECP operation during disruptions, and facilitate rapid response to security incidents.

STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVE

Drop Arm Buttons and Installation Dated

19 September 2025 Background:

412 SFS is requesting the installation of external control buttons at each designated drop arm location to allow gate guards to directly raise and lower the arms. These buttons must be compatible with the existing gate control system and provided for every lane.

Subject:

Request for Upgrade: Installation of External Lane Control Buttons for FAAC Drop Arm System at Entry Control Point (ECP)

Objective:

To enhance the operational efficiency and security posture of the Entry Control Point (ECP) by upgrading the existing FAAC drop arm system with the addition of external lane control buttons. This request proposes the installation of **ten (10)** external buttons, one for each lane, enabling security personnel to directly open and close the respective drop arm lane independent of the primary control console.

This upgrade is crucial for:

1. Improved Traffic Management:** Providing immediate, localized control of each lane will expedite vehicle processing, especially during peak hours and periods of heightened alert.

2. Increased Operational Redundancy:** Offering an alternative control method ensures continuous ECP operation even in the event of temporary disruptions or maintenance affecting the main control console.

3. Enhanced Security Posture:** Allowing for immediate and independent lane closures facilitates rapid response to security incidents or suspicious activity.

The successful implementation of this upgrade hinges on the following requirements:

• Each button must be clearly labeled, durable, and intuitively designed for ease of operation under all weather conditions.

• The buttons must be fully compatible with the existing FAAC drop arm system to ensure seamless integration and prevent any degradation of performance.

• Installation should be performed by qualified technicians with expertise in FAAC systems, minimizing disruption to ECP operations and adhering to all safety protocols.

The proposal must include a comprehensive maintenance and warranty plan, specific to the installed buttons and their integration with the FAAC system, covering potential malfunctions, ensuring long-term reliability, and outlining response times for service.

The addition of these external lane control buttons represents a significant improvement to the ECP's operational capabilities and overall security. We respectfully request prompt consideration and approval of this essential project.
