Statement of Need for
60 MDTS/HISTOLOGY
Hologic ThinPrep 5000
Description: The Hologic ThinPrep 5000 is piece of equipment that provide continuous, hands-free processing of non-gyn cytology samples. It will be used in the Anatomic Pathology department to process body fluids, fine-needle aspirations, and any other received cytology samples. It can load up to 20 vials at once, this includes slides and filters as well. This will free up more time for technicians to work on other items. The ThinPrep 5000 also has an automatic capping and uncapping feature, which reduces technician exposure to the samples and minimized repetitive strain injuries. The instrument also has an automated chain of custody function, where it prints barcodes that are attached to slides labels, thus reducing the risk of the wrong sample being placed on the wrong slide. This is a “Brand name or equal” request.
