Damage Control Kits
PURPOSE:
Safety Management Branch (SMB) is purchasing Damage Control Kits (28 Plugging Kits, 29 Shoring Kits, 28 Pipe Patching Kits, 15 Electrical Repair Kits & 30 Banding Kits), and 14 Electrical Repair Kit bags for each ship in the NOAA Fleet to standardize Damage Control equipment increasing efficacy in the event of an emergency. This will be a total of 130 Damage Control Kits and 14 Electrical Repair Kit bags
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
The Plugging Kits should provide tools, plugs, wedges and other items for plugging holes and cracks during a shipboard flooding casualty. Below are the items and quantities required in each Plugging Kits:

The Electrical Repair Kits should contain voltage indicator, fuse pullers, danger signs, electrical tape, various metal hand tools (insulated in accordance with NSTM 300), and personnel protection equipment for the DCRS electrician to conduct emergency trouble shooting of electrical cabling, wiring, panels, controllers, and electrical equipment. It also allows the electrician to perform temporary repairs, rig power cables, and energize systems/motors to equipment during shipboard emergencies.
