About this file

This is a Request for Information (RFI) from the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Installation and Mission Support Center regarding standardization of facility generators and associated components across USAF installations. The 772 ESS/PKD at Tyndall Air Force Base seeks industry feedback on a proposed brand-name Class Justification and Approval (J&A) that would allow each USAF installation to select a standard generator brand based on existing inventory when new or replacement generators and components are required. The current Class J&A, originally approved in December 2021 for five years, will be renewed for an additional five-year period from FY27 through FY32 to support standardization efforts through natural attrition. USAF installations intend to continue procuring generators from local dealers and distributors supplying the approved standard brands. The NAICS code is 335312 (Motor and Generator Manufacturing) with a small business size standard of 1,250 employees.

Responses to the RFI are due 30 days after posting and must be limited to 2 pages. Interested parties should submit company information including name, address, point of contact details, CAGE code, SAM registration, DUNS number, and business size/socio-economic categories. The RFI includes eight questions addressing company identification as manufacturers or suppliers, concerns about the Class J&A, generator sales data to federal agencies, proprietary diagnostic software access for government personnel, OEM-approved training availability and volume discounts, processes for parts availability and timely repairs, and data on generator standardization as industry best practice. All responses must be submitted in writing via email to Mr. Tommy G. Leos, Jr. (tommy.leos.2@us.af.mil) and Mr. Stephen M. Day (stephen.day.1@us.af.mil) by 4:00 P.M. CST on April 17, 2026. This RFI is for informational and planning purposes only; no solicitation document currently exists, and no contract will be directly awarded based on RFI responses.

Request for Information

This is a Request for Information (RFI) seeking feedback from any interested parties with regard to a proposed brand-name Class Justification and Approval (J&A) for standardization of Facility Generators and their associated components at the installation level (i.e., Air Force Base). 772 ESS/PKD, at Tyndall Air Force Base, plans to allow each USAF installation within and Outside the Contiguous United States to select, based on its existing inventory, a standard brand of generator when new/replacement generators & their associated components are required. USAF installations intend to continue to obtain new/replacement generators from local dealers and distributors that supply the standard brands. Comment by STELLATELLA, SARA L CIV USAF AFMC AFCEC/COSM: Recommend removing Emergency Power Systems (EPS) as this refers to Generators and all associated items - fuel belly/tank, power supply, etc. We're not interested in the entire EPS, just the Generators and select components (i.e., internal transfer switch)

The current brand-name Generator Class J&A was originally approved in December 2021 for five years. The USAF intends to renew the J&A for another five years (FY27 through FY32) in support of standardization of its generator & associated components inventory through natural attrition. The new Class J&A will support various installation-level contracts for new/replacement generators & associated components. We ask that you respond to this RFI so we may better understand how the planned J&A may impact industry.
