About this file

This Standard Plans document provides technical specifications and installation details for the Town of Los Gatos' 2026 Annual Curb, Gutter, and Sidewalk Maintenance Project #25-813-9921. The document includes detailed construction standards for concrete work, tree planting, and sign installation. Concrete specifications require Class A concrete with one pound of lamp black per cubic yard, expansion joints with 1/2" x 12" slip at specified intervals, and dowels placed at 20-foot intervals, with an Aggregate Base Class II compacted to 95% maximum per ASTM D1557. Tree planting requirements specify 15-gallon trees with a minimum caliper of 1-1/2 inches and height of 7-8 feet, planted 4 inches higher than their nursery depth, with installation requiring 3 Agriform Planting Tablets (21 grams each, 20-10-5 analysis) placed equidistant in the planting pit. All planting stock requires approval from the Town Arborist. Electronic bids are due by Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 2:00 pm via the Town's bidding portal at https://procurement.opengov.com/portal/losgatosca.

Sign installation standards specify regulatory and warning signs with a minimum 30" x 30" size using 3M Diamond Grade VIP reflective sheeting material. Sign posts must be 1.75" x 1.75" square, galvanized steel conforming to ASTM A653-94, Grade 55, with hot-dip zinc coating (G-90 designation), powder-coated black, and positioned with a minimum 7-foot height from grade to the near edge of sign and 2-foot lateral clearance from curb face. The specifications include detailed anchor requirements with 7/16" punched knockouts on 1-inch centers with tolerance of plus or minus 1/8" in 20 feet, either 6 or 12 sets of holes, and a penetrator point at the anchor bottom. All work must comply with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTC.D.) installation standards and Town Engineer specifications.
