About this file

This document provides details on a federal contract opportunity for the Space Strategic Technology Institute (SSTI) - Advanced Space Power and Propulsion. The United States Space Force is establishing SSTIs through partnered universities to address space science and technology challenges and facilitate applied research focused on transformational space domain breakthroughs. The goal is for research to lead to testbeds, modeling and simulations, demonstrations, and prototypes that can transition to higher technology readiness levels and be integrated into current and future Space Force and government space capabilities.

The Advanced Space Power and Propulsion SSTI will comprise a team of at least three universities, including a lead university. The team is encouraged to collaborate with other academic institutions, for-profit companies in NAICS code 541715, non-profits, and state and local governments. The Space Force plans to make a full award to the lead university submitting the proposal to manage research on any subtopics and distribute at least 50% of awarded funds to supporting institutions via subawards.
