The project encompasses installation of a new water softener in room LC108, upgrade of a reverse osmosis (RO) system in room LB117, and installation of two nano filtration systems—one in room LB117 and one in room UC102—to support increased endoscope processing capacity from five to sixteen units per day and supply critical water to existing sterilizers. All systems must meet ANSI/AAMI Standard 108:2023 water quality specifications for medical device processing. The installation period runs from November 1, 2025, through February 27, 2026, with quarterly preventive maintenance services extending from April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2031, including four optional renewal years.

The contractor must provide all equipment, materials, piping, pumps, storage tanks, UV light systems, and labor for complete installation. Statement of Work Job Title: Decontamination Installation of New Water Softener and an

Upgraded Reverse Osmosis System with Nano Filtration System

BACKGROUND

The Indian Health Service, Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC) in Shiprock, New Mexico is requesting the installation of new water softener in room LC108 and an upgrade Reverse Osmosis (RO) system along with nano filtration system located in room LB117 to allow Decontamination room LC104 to increase processing of five (5) to sixteen (16) endoscopes per day. The upgraded RO system will also provide critical water for two (2) existing washers in Sterile Processing Department in room LC107. The quality water used to process medical devices must meet American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI): ANSI/AAMI Standard 108:2023 water for the processing of medical devices Table 2 – Categories and performance qualification levels of water quality for medical device processing. Another nano filtration system will go in UC102 chiller room where the existing softener, hot water heater, and along with five (5) micron filter stations are located. The additional nano filtration system will be installed in flow path of the currently water quality system leading to mobile Sterile Processing Department (SPD) unit remove last bit of conductivity and hardness from soften water to meet the ANSI/AAMI Standard 108:2023.

OBJECTIVES

The objective is to meet ANSI / AAMI Standard 108:2023 water for the processing of medical devices standards while producing quality water for processing critical water for endoscope processing and having final rinse (e.g., critical water) water available on existing two

(2) washers. The clinical staff would like to increase their original processing number of five (5) endoscopes to sixteen (16) endoscopes per day. The daily demand for both “utility water” and “critical water” quality waters will increase sufficiently. To meet the demand for quality water the raw water must go through a new water softener system in room LC108 along with upgrading reverse osmosis (RO) system in room LB117. The Sterile Processing Department have two (2) existing washers located in Workroom and Sterilizing room LC107 that also requires “critical water” criteria. The two (2) existing washers will be set up as a contingency plan for when STERIS mobile unit is not available. The medical devices can be processed in NNMC existing Sterile Processing Department when quality water meets ANSI/AAMI Standard 108:2023 water for the processing of medical device standards.

In addition, a quarterly preventive maintenance service for both the existing and new water softeners, a new reverse osmosis system and both nanofiltration system to ensure all systems operate efficiently, extending its lifespan and preventing future problems and costly repairs. The entire system helps deliver soft and quality process water along with protects plumbing and equipment from mineral buildup.
