SUBJECT:

Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the Left-Hand and Right-Hand C-5 Mechanical Actuators; Purchase Request number FD2060-23-00041. Applicable NAICS: 336413.

ITEM DESCRIPTION:

The C-5 Main Landing Gear (MLG), Rotary Actuators are used to actuate the four main landing gear on the C-5 aircraft and are the primary actuating mechanism(s) utilized for retraction and extension of the MLG and Door Assembly. The MLG and door actuator assembly is a dual drive rotary unit. The low speed actuator is an oil/grease lubricated gear assembly with the output planetary system mounted inside the hub of the main housing. This housing is a one-piece aluminum forging with integral retraction arms which mounts the complete actuator assembly to the airplane. The actuator output shaft drives the main landing gear, during the retraction and extension of the MLG (retracts and extends the MLG), through the large internal spline on one end while simultaneously driving the MLG doors by means of the door drive arm splined to the opposite end.

Impediment to Competition:

The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Triumph Gear Systems, Inc. (CAGE Code: 82402), which maintains its proprietary manufacturing data for these items.
