TITLE

Scintica Prospect T1 High Frequency Ultrasound Imaging System – Brand Name or Equal

BACKGROUND

The Pediatric Solid Tumor and Immunotherapy Section, Pediatric Oncology Branch (POB), Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), develops new immunotherapies for patients with neuroblastoma by tracking tumor growth in mice. High frequency ultrasound imaging will allow POB investigators to measure tumor sizes without harming the animals and ultimately help to assess tumor response to different therapies.

TYPE OF ORDER

This is a Firm Fixed-Price Purchase Order.

1.0 SPECIAL ORDER REQUIREMENTS

1.1 PRODUCT FEATURES/SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS

The following minimum product features/characteristics are required:

1. Footprint: The entire system must have a compact design and fit into biosafety cabinets to allow working with immunocompromised animals.

2. Portability: Portability of the system is required as it will be utilized in multiple locations within the NCI facilities.

3. Type of experiments: The system shall be specifically designed for in vivo preclinical high frequency imaging of small animals (mice).

a. The high frequency ultrasound probe must be designed specifically for small animal imaging (40 MHz / broadband 20-50 MHz).

b. The device must have an integrated anesthesia cone to keep mice properly anesthetized during imaging.

c. The system must monitor mice vitals (body temperature, respiration, ECG, heart rate) during imaging, with the option to export ECG and respiratory data.

d. The animal bed shall be:

i. specifically designed for mice (approximately 17 cm x 14 cm).

ii. heated to help maintain body temperature during ultrasound procedure.

iii. tiltable in all directions to achieve required imaging windows.

4. Performance characteristics:

75N91024SS6826350 Page 3 of 5

a. High resolution (up to 30 µm) to be able to detect tumors that are too small to be detected by other means such as physical palpation.

b. Up to 190 frames per second (fps) frame rate for high quality measurements.

c. Able to track and record tumor size/progression over time.

d. The system must have multiple scanning modes. This shall include contrast, pulse-wave, and the capability to measure tumors in one dimension, (1D), 2 dimensions (2D) and three dimensions (3D) as follows:

i. Contrast ultrasound capabilities (linear, nonlinear) to assess vascularity.

ii. Pulsed-wave Doppler mode to measure blood flow velocity profiles over time.

iii. 1D mode (M mode) for measuring cardiac function and movement of blood vessel walls.

iv. 2D mode (B mode) to collect images in real time for exploration and to observe motion.
