About this file

This document is a Request for Application (RFA) for the 2024 Ambassador's Special Self-Help (SSH) Program, a federal grant opportunity offered by the U.S. Embassy in Kampala, Uganda.

The SSH Program supports small-scale, community-based initiatives that promote self-reliance, foster development, widen civic space and engagement, protect and promote human rights, and have an immediate and dramatic effect on local communities. Eligible applicants include non-501(c)(3) nonprofits, individuals, higher education institutions, small businesses, and others. The program will fund projects focused on gathering spaces, vulnerable populations, gender and equity, civic participation, and climate change prevention. Applications are due by May 31, 2024 and must include a completed application form, budget package, organization registration, local approvals, and supplier quotes. Proposals will be evaluated on factors such as project impact, community participation, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. The program is authorized under CFDA 19.220, Ambassadors' Special Self Help Fund.
