Text version

1. From our field observations we discovered the bulkheads in the ceilings are plaster covered “I” beams. It was originally discussed during the walkthrough they were concrete. Can you provide direction on the attachment method needed to support a sheetrock grid?

The new SOW states the use of 1½ 20 gauge track and studs. The contractor shall follow industry standards for fastening.

2. There are approximately 24 junction boxes per loading dock area. Access must be maintained to these boxes. Will SSA be moving them down below the ceiling or is this the responsibility of the contractor? If they are kept in their current location access panels must be supplied. Do you have specifications for access panels?

The new SOW states the 18” x 18” access panels shall be installed by the contractor in the area of the junction boxes or directly under them in the framing and drywall. These access panels shall be metal; however, they do not need to be fire rated. The contractor shall furnish access panels and other materials. The contractor is not responsible for installing any ceiling in the area around the roll up doors.

3. The existing lights must be relocated in order to install a new ceiling. Will SSA be moving them or is this the responsibility of the contractor?

This is in the new SOW.

4. The existing sprinkler heads must be relocated in order to install a new ceiling. Will SSA be moving them or is this the responsibility of the contractor?

The existing sprinkler heads as stated in the walk through will be handled by our in house plumbing shops.

5. Some of the existing insulation in the ceiling is either missing or damaged. Should this be replaced prior to installing the new insulation?

The contractor is not responsible for replacing missing insulation. The contractor is only responsible for installing the new insulation.

6. Can you provide the specifications on the new drywall to be installed?

This is in the new SOW.

7. Can you provide the specifications on the paint to be applied to the new ceiling?

This is in the new SOW.

8. There 14 heaters referenced in the RFP and I observed 8 during the walkthrough. Can you confirm quantity?

This is in the new SOW.

9. Would SSA accept an alternate to install new Ridged Insulation Board over the existing insulation in place of a sheetrock ceiling? This board would accomplish the same objective, eliminate the need to expose the “I” beam for support, drastically reduce the amount of labor needed, be much less expensive and can be painted to your choosing.

No.
