SOURCES SOUGHT: THIS IS NOT A NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR QUOTATION BUT INFORMATION, PLANNING AND POSTING PURPOSES ONLY! This notice does not constitute a commitment by the Government. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary and the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government.

The Request for Quotation (RFQ) number is FA700022Q0047 and shall be used to reference any written responses to this sources sought.

The USAF Academy 10th Contracting Squadron anticipates a requirement that is being considered under a small business set-aside program. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) Code proposed 336414. Size standard: # of Employees 1,250.

Salient Characteristics: Satellite Separation System

At a minimum, the event based sensors must be able to do the following:

1. Mass:

· Separation system must have total mass less than ≤ 5 kg

· Must be able to support satellite mass ≤ 181 kg

1. Dimensions:

1. Max diameter ≤ 17.5”

1. Height ≤ 2.15”

1. Design must have space flight heritage

1. Provider must environmentally test separation system prior to delivery

1. Must have redundant deployment motor

1. Environment:

· Thermal: Must be able to survive -20 C to 50 C

· Vibration: Must be able to survive the qualification environment defined in Table 2.4-3 of GSFC-STD-7000A for the total system mass (181 kg + separation system)

· Shock: Must be able to survive 50 in/sec constant velocity between 100 Hz and 10,000 Hz

· Must be able to survive loading defined in Moog’s ESPA User’s Guide, The Secondary Payload Adapter (November 2018) while 181 kg satellite is attached

1. Mechanical Interface to spacecraft:

6. Must be able to interface with a standard ESPA ring port per Moog’s ESPA User’s Guide, The Secondary Payload Adapter (November 2018)

1. Electrical Interface

· Deployment mechanism must operate at nominal 28V +/- 4V, < 3A current (peak)

· Must provide a/an electrical connector(s) that separate with ≥ 30 pins

· Must provide telemetry indicating connection and deployment

8. Must generate no debris upon or after separation

8. Must impart ≤ 1.0° per second rotation rate per axis during separation without satellite

8. Must impart ≥ 1.25 ft per second relative separation velocity with 181 kg satellite

1. Must include operation training for 5 personnel Include in your capabilities package/email your UEI/Cage Code, and System for Award Management expiration date, and any related specifications/drawings.

We are interested in any size business that is capable of meeting this requirement.

Market research is being conducted to determine interest, capability, and socio-economic category of potential sources for the requirement.

All interested firms shall submit a capabilities package that overtly demonstrates company capabilities-indicating examples of commercial sales-and product specifications related to this effort.

Also indicate if you are the manufacturer, or provide the name and size of the manufacturer of the product(s) you will be supplying. Respondents are further requested to indicate their status as a Foreign-owned/foreign-controlled firm and any contemplated us of foreign national employees on this effort.

Respondents may provide, if any, additional feedback that would help us provide more clarity within the requirement/promote further competition
