About this file

This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) filed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services regarding the leasing of juice extractor machines. The agency seeks to lease up to forty (40) AMC Model 2700 juice extractors for placement in processing plants throughout the state. These machines will be used to extract juice, evaluate, and determine the percent of total soluble solids per pound on delivered citrus to assess fruit maturity. The leasing requirement is intended for the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with the requesting division being the Division of Fruit and Vegetables. The procurement notice was posted on April 28, 2026, with the last day for receipt of prospective vendor information set for May 19, 2026 (May 18, 2026, in the related contract opportunity notice). No bidder's conference or site visit is mentioned in the documentation.

The estimated dollar amount for this acquisition is up to $175,870.00. Brown International Corporation, LLC of Winter Haven, Florida is identified as the intended single source, holding U.S. Patents No. 3,185,071 and 3,280,726 for the AMC Model 2700 juice extractor. The justification for single source acquisition is based on the unique and patented nature of the equipment and its regulatory requirement under Chapter 20-34.001(2), F.A.C., which specifies that an AMC #2700 juice extractor or its equivalent must be used for testing purposes to maintain control and uniformity in statewide testing procedures. The purchase was approved by Ana McClure (Accountant II), Jay Hook (Assistant Director), Lisa Jensen (Director), Stephanie Bergozza (Purchasing Director), and Joey Hicks (Director of Administration). Contact for inquiries is Edward Rondeau, Procurement Officer, at (850) 617-7181 or Procurement@FDACS.gov.
