About this file
Summary
This is an Addendum 1 to the Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) for the Salt River Elementary School (SRES) Playground Revisions and Shade Canopies project, Solicitation No. PW-23-035. The addendum updates project drawings and provides clarification on key construction requirements. A pre-proposal meeting was held on May 9, 2023, with questions due by May 22, 2023, responses issued by May 24, 2023, and proposals due by May 26, 2023 at 4:00 PM. The project scope includes new playground equipment with shade canopy, site work, and associated improvements. Revised sheets L1.2 and L3.1 incorporate an accessible wheelchair swing into the playground equipment design. The substantial completion target date is January 25, 2024, with an anticipated 145 calendar days from Notice to Proceed. The work is located within an occupied building on the SRPMIC Campus and requires coordination with office schedules, a full-time company superintendent, education background checks for all personnel, cultural sensitivity training, and compliance with community parking and COVID protocols.
The total project cost is $1,154,112, with construction costs of $961,047. The project is fully funded through federal grants and is subject to Davis Bacon/Prevailing Wage Rates. Performance and Payment Bonds are required; however, a Bid Bond is not required. The RFP includes one allowance of $15,000 for off-hours work (nights and weekends) and two alternates: Alternate 1 for a new rubberized walking track surface and Alternate 2 for a new bus canopy. A critical clarification addresses the rubberized play surface base requirements, with the Base Bid requiring a 4-inch concrete or asphalt base and a Deduct Alternate "1A" providing compacted stone base with geotextile as an option. SRPMIC anticipates providing approximately 50 percent of required fill dirt material from an adjacent ECEC construction site, with contractors responsible for transporting onsite material and procuring any additional fill dirt needed, plus providing a unit cost for additional material if the existing stockpile falls short of the estimated 50 percent quantity. Contractors must possess a valid Arizona Registrar of Contractors (ROC) license and acknowledge all addenda in their submittal.

D. QUESTION/ ANSWER (RFI):
1. Question- Rubberized track and or playground surface manufacturers may require an asphalt or concrete base for the rubberized surface in order to maintain the manufacturer’s warranty. Details show that the “PREFFERD OPTION” is for a 4” concrete or asphalt base what should be included in the bid price.
Answer- The rubberized play surface as detailed on 4/L3.2 should include 4” concrete or asphalt base for the Base Bid pricing. Contractor to provide a Deduct
Alternate to provide compacted stone base with geotextile.
Alternate 1 - Rubberized Surface at Existing Track Base Bid detail 3/L3.2 should include 4” concrete or asphalt base for the Base Bid pricing.
Contractor to provide a Deduct Alternate “1A” to provide compacted stone base with geotextile.
2. Question- Does SRPMIC have fill dirt that can be used for the project to bring the new playground surface up to the proposed finish grade elevation?
Answer- At this time Contractors can assume that SRPMIC has approximately 50% of the fill dirt material needed to meet the new playground surface finish grade elevation. This material is located on the adjacent ECEC campus just to the
North of the SRES work site. There is gate access off the North of the SRES running track directly into the current ECEC construction site. The
