Question 8: In reference to the aforementioned solicitation, we would highly appreciate your cooperation and advise in regards to the obstetrics / maternity benefits.
Usually as a standard practice, MetLife Alico places a 280 days waiting period; meaning any married female employee / spouse who gets pregnant after the policy inception / effective date, will be eligible for coverage. And for those who are pre-pregnant, then they will not be able to avail the benefits.
However, that requirement (280 days) can be waived and a nil waiting period cab be applied, but we would need to know the current /existing number of pregnant cases in order to include it in our premium calculations.
Response 8: Our female employees are not required to report if they are pregnant (this includes female spouses).
