SPST Grant Guidance 693JK319NF0009
Question:
We are looking for a funding source for an educational program for the construction industry and I am wondering if this grant might be a good fit.
Considering the following:
• Training often requires time out of the office, travel fees and training fees.
• Roughly 10% of information in a long training session is retained, which means about 90% of the time is less than optimum use
• Notes are rarely reviewed by students unless there is a test
We want to create a series of web based training (no travel required) that is a series of five to thirty minute video and audio segments. These are easily reviewed to refresh different segments and increase both comprehension and retention.
The population this training is intended to benefit are:
Building officials, construction official, fire sub code, plan review staff, fire investigators, maintenance engineers in hospitals, prisons, schools and much more. Other industries benefiting from this include insurance, construction, real estate, healthcare, educational, institutional and much more.
This training series would be devoted to improving the level of knowledge in this industry which would allow design teams, build teams and maintenance teams to achieve this goal.
Based on this short description do you think this is a good fit for this particular grant opportunity? If not, do you know of a different one that might be a good fit?
Answer:
The SPST grant serve the purpose of aiding national non-profit organizations with training instructors to conduct hazardous materials response training programs for individuals with a statutory responsibility to respond to hazardous materials accidents and incidents. The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will provide the information for you to determine if the SPST grant will cover the needs you have identified and it will also provide information on the eligibility requirements. After reading the NOFO and you feel that you meet the eligibility requirements and it meets your needs please feel free to apply.
The deadline for application submission is May 24, 2019.
