About this file

This document is a First Article Requirements form (AFMC IMT 260) for a federal contract opportunity to procure an aircraft support seal. The key details are:

The first article requirement is for 3 units, 2 of which will be part of the production quantity and 1 will be in addition. The first article must be manufactured at the same facilities as the final production parts. Contractor testing and a test plan are required, with the contractor notifying the government 30 days prior to testing. The government has 60 days to provide written approval or disapproval after receiving the contractor's test report. Approved first articles will be returned to the contractor for delivery with the production items, while disapproved articles will be retained pending disposition instructions. First article testing may be waived if the offeror has previously provided the same or similar article that has exhibited satisfactory performance.

The related federal contract opportunity is a competitive solicitation (SPRTA124Q0662) restricted to United States Air Force approved sources for an Aircraft Support Seal. The full requirement details are attached to the Request for Proposal.

First article testing is waived if the offeror is the prime contractor, Pratt & Whitney.

This is a critical part used in the F100 series turbine engine. Poor quality parts will have an adverse effect on mission capability and system safety. For this reason, First Article Testing is required to insure first time manufacturers or manufacturers that have not produced the item within three years manufacture parts in accordance with the drawing and specification requirements.
