About this file
This is a DD Form 2169C Special Packaging Instruction document for a Drive Unit, Angle part (drawing number 10863320-1, CAGE code 4A130, National Stock Number 3010-01-485-0432). The instruction was issued on 04/11/2024 with SPI number AK14850432.
The document specifies detailed packaging and preservation requirements for the drive unit, which weighs 18.0 pounds and measures 12.9 x 10.7 x 8.1 inches per unit pack. Preservation follows MIL-STD-2073-1 Method 42 and includes internal flushing or slushing with MIL-PRF-32033 preservative, application of preservative to all unplated and unpainted metallic surfaces, and wrapping with MIL-PRF-121 Type II material (36 x 20 inches). Cushioning must comply with ASTM-D4727 Type CF, Class D, Grade 200. The inner container is ASTM-D5118 Type CF, ST RSC, Class D, Grade 275 (11-5/8 x 9-5/8 x 7-1/4 inches), placed into a MIL-DTL-117 Type I, Class E bag (22 x 18 inches), then into an outer ASTM-D5118 container (12-3/8 x 10-1/2 x 7-3/4 inches). Level A packing uses wood-cleated panelboard or nailed wood boxes per ASTM standards; Level B packing uses weather-resistant fiberboard boxes. The document includes technical drawings (Figures 1-6) showing container size and score dimensions for B flute corrugated fiberboard, with specific placement and orientation of the item and cushioning within the inner container. When shipments exceed 125 pounds to the same destination, palletization per MIL-STD-147 is required.
