About this file

This Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) document provides detailed packaging specifications for a fuel pump (NSN 2910-01-696-8274, Part Number KT414350) manufactured by Ambac International Corporation. The six-page document outlines precise step-by-step instructions for packaging, preserving, and shipping the fuel pump using military packaging standards, including specific requirements for container construction, blocking, cushioning, wrapping, and securing the component.

The packaging process involves multiple intricate steps, including drilling 1/2-inch diameter holes in a wooden container, using specific carriage bolts, washers, nuts, and gaskets to secure blocking and the fuel pump, applying preservative to metal surfaces, sealing openings, and heat-sealing a protective bag around the item. The packaging follows military standards like MIL-STD-2073-1 and uses materials such as plywood containers, MIL-PRF-21260 preservative, and specific cushioning and wrapping materials to ensure the fuel pump's protection during transportation and storage.
