A. FLUSH INTERIOR OF PART WITH PRESERVATIVE, ITEM 1, THEN DRAIN EXCESS. INSERT PLUG, ITEM 2, INTO EACH PORT OF PART. IF PART HAS BEEN RECEIVED PRESERVED AND PLUGGED, THEN FLUSHING

AND PLUGGING STEPS MAY BE ELIMINATED.

B. WRAP PART WITH WRAP, ITEM 3, AND SECURE WITH A WEATHER RESISTANT TAPE.

C. COVER GRILL SURFACES OF THE WRAPPED PART WITH PAD, ITEM 4A. PLACE ONE PAD ON THE

SURFACE SIDE WITH PORT AND TWO PADS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE. SECURE IN PLACE WITH A

WEATHER RESISTANT TAPE.

D. PLACE PADDED PART FROM NOTE C INTO CONTAINER, ITEM 5.

E. FILL VOIDS BETWEEN WRAPPED PART AND CONTAINER WITH PADS ITEMS 4B, 4C, AND 4D.

F. CLOSE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM-D1974, METHOD 2B3.

G. LEVEL A: PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING A CLEATED PLYWOOD BOX, CONFORMING TO

ASTM-D6251, TYPE III, CLASS 1.

LEVEL B: THE UNIT CONTAINER IS AN ACCEPTABLE LEVEL B SHIPPING CONTAINER WHEN SEALED AND

REINFORCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM-D1974, METHOD 2C OR 2D.

FOR BOTH LEVEL A AND LEVEL B, WHEN THE TOTAL QUANTITY TO BE SHIPPED TO THE SAME

DESTINATION EXCEEDS 125 POUNDS, EXTERIOR PACKS WITHOUT SKIDS SHALL BE PALLETIZED. MIL-

STD-147 MAY BE USED FOR GUIDANCE.

H. INSPECT THE PRESERVATION, THE UNIT PACK AND THE PACKING IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-

1D AND THE APPLICABLE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.
