B. FLUSH OR SLUSH INTERNALLY AND THOROUGHLY DRAIN EXCESS.

C. SEAL ALL OPENINGS WITH PLUGS OF THE APPROPRIATE SIZE.

D. APPLY PRESERVATIVE TO ALL UNPAINTED/UNPLATED FERROUS SURFACES.

E. CALCULATE SIZE OF WRAP IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073, TABLE A-V. WRAP ITEM AND SECURE

USING TAPE.

F. CUSHION AND IMMOBILIZE ITEM USING VARIOUS VARIETIES AND OR GRADES OF ASTM D4727 CORRUGATED

FIBERBOARD.

G. CALCULATE SIZE OF CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073, TABLE A-V. CLOSE CONTAINER IN

ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM D 1974, METHOD 2B6.

H. CALCULATE SIZE OF BAG IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073, TABLE A-V. CLOSE BAG BY HEAT SEALING.

I. THE UNIT CONTAINER SHALL ALSO BE MARKED ON THE TOP AND ONE SIDE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD- 129-SPECIAL MARKINGS, "REUSABLE CONTAINER AND CUSHIONING, DO NOT DESTROY. OPEN ALONG

J. PACKING:

LEVEL A PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING WOOD-CLEATED PANELBOARD SHIPPING BOXES, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6251, TYPE III, CLASS 2 OR NAILED WOOD BOXES CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6880, CLASS 2.

LEVEL B PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING FIBERBOARD BOXES, WEATHER RESISTANT,

CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5118 OR TRIPLEWALL, CORRUGATED FIBERBOARD BOXES, CLASS 2, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5168. CLOSURE, SEALING, AND REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE IAW SPECIFIC, APPLICABLE METHODS

OF ASTM-D 1974, OR AS REFERENCED IN THE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.

WHEN THE TOTAL QUANTITY TO BE SHIPPED TO THE SAME DESTINATION EXCEEDS 125 POUNDS, EXTERIOR

PACKS WITHOUT SKIDS SHALL BE PALLETIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-147.
