1 SCOPE
1.1 General - See Figure 5 in Reference (1). This specification reflects those characteristics that are essential to the minimum needs of the government for the procurement of a PORTABLE, INDUSTRIAL DUTY, VENTILATION BLOWER supplied completely assembled, wired, tested, and ready for immediate use upon receipt, except that the silencers, bellmouths, and transitions may be unbolted from the blower for shipment.
1.2 Intended Application - The portable ventilation blower will be used in temporary ventilation systems used to supply fresh air to work areas or exhaust fumes and potentially explosive gases from confined spaces and other areas. The arrangement of the connected system will be changed frequently so the blower performance is specified as two CFM and static pressure points. Air exhausted by the system is not filtered and may contain light dust and occasional small debris from metalworking, woodworking, welding, plasma cutting, and coatings removal and application. The blower will be operated and stored in the weather, in a high abuse industrial environment at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. Other than durability, the most important system design constraint is small footprint.
