About this file
This document is a Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) for a Radio Frequency Exciter with National Stock Number 5840-01-625-6969. The document provides detailed packaging requirements for a military item, including specific instructions for military preservation, cleaning, drying, marking, and closure. The packaging must adhere to multiple military standards including MIL-STD-2073 for preservation and MIL-STD-129 for marking, with two packaging levels specified (Level A and Level B) that have different dimensional and weight specifications.
The document includes critical international shipping requirements related to wood packaging material, mandating that all wooden lumber, pallets, and containers must be constructed from debarked wood and heat-treated to 56 degrees Celsius (133 degrees Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes. This is in compliance with United Nations restrictions on wood packaging material to prevent the spread of invasive species. The packaging instructions also specify detailed cushioning, wrapping, and barrier bag requirements, with precise dimensions and material specifications for each packaging component. The document is marked with a Distribution Statement D, limiting access to Department of Defense and U.S. DoD contractors for administrative or operational use.
