A. PRESERVATION AND PACKAGING SHALL BE INSPECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1 AND ANY

APPLICABLE CONTAINER SPECIFIATIONS.

B. CLEANING AND DRYING: IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1, CODE 1, ANY SUITABLE PROCESS THAT IS NOT

INJURIOUS TO THE ITEM.

C. APPLY PLASTIC CAPS ONTO CABLE PORT OPENINGS.

D. POSITION ITEM WITH FABRICATED CUSHIONING INSIDE CONTAINER. SEE FIGURE 1 AND 2. CLOSE CONTAINER IN

ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM D1974, METHOD 2B6.

E. PLACE FIRST CONTAINER (3D) INTO BAG. CLOSE BY HEAT SEAL.

F. OVERPACK BOXED AND BAGGED ITEM IN CONTAINER. SEE FIGURE 3. CLOSE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH

ASTM D1974, METHOD 2B6.

G. PACKING:

LEVEL A PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING WOOD-CLEATED PANELBOARD SHIPPING BOXES, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6251, TYPE III, CLASS 2 OR NAILED WOOD BOXES CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6880, CLASS 2.

LEVEL B PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING EITHER FIBERBOARD BOXES, WEATHER-RESISTANT CLASS, CONFORMING TO ASTM D5118 OR TRIPLEWALL, CORRUGATED FIBERBOARD BOXES, CLASS CGWR, CONFORMING TO ASTM D5168. CLOSURE, SEALING, AND REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFIC, APPLICABLE METHODS OF ASTM D1974, OR AS REFERENCED IN THE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.

WHEN THE TOTAL QUANTITY TO BE SHIPPED TO THE SAME DESTINATION EXCEEDS 125 POUNDS, EXTERIOR PACKS

WITHOUT SKIDS SHALL BE PALLETIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-147.
