About this file
This is a specifications document for concrete planks for boat launch ramps issued by Maine's Boating Facilities Division in Richmond. The project requires the delivery of 450 precast concrete planks, each measuring 6 inches by 10 feet long, with all units to be delivered before November 16, 2012. Monthly deliveries are required to the Boating Facilities Division Area located at Route 201, 1009 Brunswick Road, Richmond, Maine, adjacent to Peacock Beach State Park. The concrete planks must meet strict material and construction specifications, including a concrete mix design yielding 5,000 PSI in 28 days, composed of 658 pounds of cement per cubic yard, 1,600+ pounds of stone, 1,350+ pounds of concrete sand, and air entrainment to achieve 5-7% air content. Reinforcing steel must meet ASTM A615 grade 60 standards, while connecting bars must comply with ASTM A36 specifications. Concrete curing requires water curing for three days immediately following placement, with forms not to be removed before 18 hours post-placement and only after minimum 1,500 PSI concrete strength is achieved. Casting dates must be clearly marked on each plank, and concrete cannot be cast during December, January, or February.
Quality control requirements mandate that finished planks exhibit clean, neat surfaces with proper grooves and be free of honeycomb and cracks. Inspection will occur at the point of delivery, with any nonconforming planks subject to rejection and removal by the supplier at no cost to the buyer. The contract price includes delivery and placement of precast concrete planks into stockpiles at the specified location, with no delivery on pallets permitted. Only non-chloride admixtures may be used in the concrete mix, and water reducer (WRDA #19 or equivalent) is required as necessary to meet specifications.
