Text version
These are the specifications for the project. The research has these specific needs that must be met exactly.
1. LED lights must be horticultural lights so they are able to operate reliably at high temperature and high humidity/moisture conditions in the greenhouse.
1. LED lights must have an L90 rated at 50,000 hours under greenhouse conditions.
1. LED lights must have a protective lens over the diodes that increases the longevity of the lights for the long-term research project.
1. Lights must have a computer-controlled fan for active cooling of the unit.
1. Each LED light fixture must have separate LED light elements for the following four wavelengths/spectrums: 450nm (Blue), 660nm (Red), 735nm (Far-Red), and white@5700k nm.
1. For each LED light fixture, each of these four channels (wavelengths/spectrums) must be independently and continuously adjustable in intensity from zero to full output. Full output from a fixture must be at least 310 μmol/m²/s over a 4 x 4 ft horizontal area, at a distance of 4 ft below the light fixture.
1. The LED lights must be supplied with a software and hardware system for smart lighting control, including WIFI and Ethernet wireless connectivity. The wireless system must allow setup and control of light spectrum and light intensity for each fixture, using a drag and drop aspect to allow easy setup of unique light recipes. The system must allow the advance scheduling of changes in spectrum and intensity of each light fixture. The HelioConnect software from HelioSpectra is suitable.
1. Each LED light fixture must weigh no more than 18 lbs, and have horizontal dimensions of no more than 9 inches x 17 inches, to allow mounting and minimize interference with natural daylight during the greenhouse experiments.
1. The LED light fixture must operate on 120 VAC (50/60 Hz) at 5 Amps per unit.
1. The fixture must have at least a 3 year warranty.
