VisiSize P15 system with velocity upgrade

General information:

The P15 image analyzer system can be used as a standalone instrument in the lab or placed at the plant canopy level in the field to analyze to analyze pesticide droplet spectrum. The image analyzer can be attached to a desktop/laptop computer to interpret the data.

The data collected by the image analyzer include droplet diameter (by number, area or volume), Sauter mean diameter, 10%, 50% and 90% volume percentiles, deviation, relative span, absolute concentration, droplet shape, droplet count, and velocity and direction of spray. Apart from providing droplet spectrum, the system can also provide close up images of the spray formation and break-up process. This adds a very powerful capability for research and is not available from any other droplet sizing system.

The data collected provide a detailed understanding on how the pesticide is atomized when pesticide is sprayed through different nozzles. When used in the field, the instrument will provide information on size of pesticide particles that gets deposited on the surface of leaves or drifts elsewhere and provide adequate information to address off-target pesticide drift.

Specific technical details:

It is a non-intrusive non-laser-based image analyzer in a single rail configuration. The instrument has a one-piece chemical resistant sealed enclosure allowing heavy sprays of chemicals. The above features combined with light weight allows the instrument to be completely portable. The sealed enclosure has a high-definition camera, lens, and a light source. During spray, the instrument uses a light pulse to illuminate a screen. The screen is photographed such that droplets appear as dark spots against a bright background. The digital camera is used to capture the snapshots of the spray particles.

The VisiSizer software analyzes the images specifically the in-focus droplets in the image and determine their sizes and velocities. Depending on the droplet sizes, a 2 times magnification (for particles of – -time – -time – . The instrument can monitor as much as 15,000 particles/sec in real time mode.
