About this file

This document outlines a blanket purchase agreement for native trees and shrubs. The Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is seeking to establish a multi-vendor BPA to provide and deliver native trees and shrubs to the front range of Colorado. The BPA will be for a period of five years and does not guarantee any funding. BPA calls will be used to order specific quantities and obligate funds. Required plant materials include Plains Cottonwood, American Plum, Chokecherry, Buffaloberry, and Golden Currant in various container sizes. Native is defined as plant material that is the same species naturally occurring at the site and originating from within a 400 mile radius, and contractors must provide evidence of nativeness with each delivery. Trees should be delivered in burlap and shrubs in containers. Delivery will generally be while dormant, but smaller orders may be needed year-round. The ordering agency will specify quantities by common name, and any substitutions must be pre-approved. Delivery can only be made Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm excluding federal holidays.

Provide pricing for each of the above species of trees and shrubs. Please include publishing pricing list for other species from the nursery if available.

NATIVE defined:

Ball sizes should always be of a diameter and depth to encompass enough of the fibrous and feeding root system as necessary for the full recovery of the plant. Consult American Standard for Nursery Stock for root ball diameters of field grown trees.

Trees may be sized by height or caliper, but caliper shall take precedence over height if both are measured. Caliper measurement of the trunk shall be taken six inches above the ground up to and including four-inch caliper size. If the caliper at six inches above the ground exceeds four inches, the caliper should be measured at 12 inches above the ground.

SHRUBS:

Shrubs should be delivered in containers. Containers are sized #1 to #100.

All container grown nursery stock shall be healthy, vigorous, well rooted, and established in the container in which it is growing. Container grown nursery stock shall have a well-established root system reaching the sides of the container to maintain a firm ball when the container is removed, but shall not have excessive root growth encircling the inside of the container. The container shall be sufficiently rigid to hold the ball shape and to protect the root mass during shipping.

Delivery of trees and shrubs will generally be while plants are dormant. However, smaller orders may be needed. In these cases, delivery dates will be specified with to ensure the nursery has adequate stock available.

The ordering agency will request the by common name and quantities to be delivered. Any substitutions must be approved in advance by the ordering agency.

Delivery may only be serviced during normal business hours (Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), excluding federal holidays.
