About this file

This is a technical specifications document for a rugged rack-mounted server computer procurement by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). The government seeks to procure two (2) units that meet specific hardware and environmental requirements. The servers must be 3U or less in height, less than 22 inches in length, and air-cooled. Each unit shall include a redundant 1200W AC power supply (120/240V input), a Supermicro H14SSL-NT motherboard with AMD EPYC 9555 processor (64-core, 3.2/4.4 GHz), eight 64GB DDR5 RDIMM modules at 6400 MHz, eight 12.8TB NVMe U.2 SSDs with TCG Opal and FIPS 140-3 compliance, one 1.92TB SATA SSD with TCG-Opal encryption, an NVMe HBA controller card with PCIe Gen 5 support, a dual-port 100GB network card (Intel E810-CQDA2), an NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max-Q graphics card with 96GB GDDR7, and a Supermicro TPM 2.0 module with FIPS 140-2 certification.

The servers must meet stringent environmental requirements per MIL-STD-810 standards, including operational temperature ranges of -30°C to +50°C (two-hour dwell with four cycles per Procedure II), altitude operation up to 12,500 feet (transport capability to 40,000 feet per Method 500), and thermal shock resistance across -40°C to +55°C with ten cycles and 15-minute dwell per Method 503 Procedure II. This is a pre-solicitation Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of the Navy Office of Naval Research for market research purposes only. Interested vendors should submit capability statements via email including company information, business size and socioeconomic categories, DUNS and Cage codes, NAICS and PSC codes, technical descriptions of compliant items, suggested alternates, estimated delivery schedules, and pricing estimates. The RFI explicitly states this is not a solicitation and responses will not be used to award orders; however, it may inform future procurement actions.
