About this file

This is a Purchase Description (CSD-PD-4405-01) dated 14 April 2014 for wooden coat and suit hangers intended for use by United States Military Cadets in barracks rooms.

The hanger specifications require construction from sturdy, high-quality hardwood with smooth, snag-preventing finish and a metal chrome hanging hook. The hanger must be shaped and curved to accommodate suit coats, jackets, and other garments, with acceptable configurations including one or two-piece shoulder arms. A critical requirement is a non-slip wooden trouser bar designed to prevent trousers from slipping during storage or transport, with no separate metal retaining bar. The hanger must include provisions (conventional notches, scoring, or alternative methods) to securely hang strap garments without slipping. Dimensional specifications include: approximately 17.5 inches long/wide (±0.5 inch), wood thickness of 7/16 to 9/16 inch measured on the shoulder arm bottom, minimum total hanger height of 9.625 inches (±0.5 inch) from surface to top of chrome hook, minimum hanger body height of 1.75 inches (±0.5 inch) at the hook location, and shoulder arms with no point shorter than 0.75 inch on the front side. Packaging requirements specify that hangers be bundled in units of 18, securely packaged to withstand normal shipping and storage conditions, with each box labeled with nomenclature and quantity. The document includes reference photographs demonstrating acceptable hanger designs and specific dimensional measurements.
