About this file
The document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for a Mini Injection Molder procurement by the USDA Agricultural Research Service. The project requires a benchtop injection molder (similar to ThermoFischer Scientific's HAAKE Mini-Jet Pro) with specific technical capabilities, including small-scale operation (5 grams or less), temperature ranges from ambient to 400°C, maximum injection pressure of 1000 bar, and included dogbone and DMA bar molds. The equipment will be used to prepare test specimens for tensile and dynamic mechanical analysis, enabling efficient screening of biopolymers, polymer additives, and plastic part prototyping.
Key procurement details include delivery to 1815 North University Street in Peoria, Illinois, within 120 days of purchase order, with installation, testing, calibration, and training included. The procurement is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 334516, with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The solicitation (Number 12505B25Q0084) will be awarded using a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) method, with quotes due by 3:00 PM Central Time on May 9, 2025, and questions accepted until 1:00 PM Central on May 6, 2025.

Project Mini Injection Molder (ThermoFischer Scientific’s HAAKE Mini-Jet Pro brand name or equal)
General Information
1.0 Scope of Work
Delivery of a benchtop injection molder. The unit should have the following features:
1. Injection Molder
2. Chiller unit
3. Dogbone mold
4. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) bar mold
5. Power cord
6. One year warranty
2.0 Background
This instrument will be used to prepare test specimens for tensile and dynamic mechanical analysis. An small scale injection molder would allow for the efficient screening of novel biopolymers, polymer additives, and prototyping of plastic parts.
Contractor Requirements
3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks
1. Benchtop size: 50x50x100cm (LxWxH) or less
2. Capable of small scale operation (5 grams or less)
3. Processing section temperature range: ambient to 400 °C (or higher)
4. Mold temperature range: ambient to 250 °C (or higher)
5. Maximum injection pressure: 1000 bar or higher
6. Dogbone mold: Mold for ASTM D638 Type V Tensile bar included
7. DMA bar mold: Mold for rectangular DMA bar (80x10x4mm) included
8. Water chilled cooling system for molds
