About this file
This document is a set of specifications for microfluidics hardware required by the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Unit (GBRU) to expand the capabilities of an existing modular microfluidics system.
The key requirements include: 1) a microfluidic flow controller compatible with the existing Fluigent EZ flow 7Bar system and controllable by the existing OxyGEN software, 2) a high-pressure reagent reservoir, 3) a bidirectional fluid flow sensor, 4) a reusable device for producing double emulsion droplets, 5) a 6-port/2-position bidirectional fluid injection loop valve, and 6) a microfluidic valve controller. The requested hardware must be capable of operating at up to 7 Bar of pressure.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quotation (RFQ) issued by the USDA ARS for the identified microfluidics equipment. Quotes are due by 4:00 pm CST on August 5, 2024, and award will be made on a best value basis considering technical capability, past performance, and price.

SPECIFICATIONS
Microfluidics hardware for double droplet emulsion
1. Introduction: Additional microfluidics hardware is needed to expand the capabilities of an existing modular microfluidics system, a Fluigent EZ flow 7mBar microfluidic pump and flow controller.
2. Scope: The Contractor shall provide the required hardware.
3. Technical Requirements:
1. 1 - Microfluidic flow controller compatible with our existing flow controllers (Fluigent EZ flow 7Bar) and controllable by existing OxyGEN microfluidics control software. The controller should produce up to 7 Bar of pressure.
2. 1 - 50 ml High-pressure reagent reservoir capable of feeding the microfluidic controller and maintaining up to 7 Bar of pressure.
3. Tubing and connectors necessary to connect the reservoir to the controller
4. 1 - Bidirectional fluid flow sensor capable of 7 Bar of pressure which can measure between 0-70 ul/min of water and 0-500 ul/min of isopropanol, and associated tubes ferrules and connectors.
5. 1 - A single reusable device for the production of double emulsion droplets from 25 to 40 microns in size. Should operate at up to 5 Bar pressure. It should be capable of generating up to 4500 droplets per second. It should produce water-oil-water and oil-water-oil emulsions. The product should come with all tubing ferrules and fittings necessary for conection and production.
6. 1 - 6-port /2-position bidirectional fluid injection loop valve and all tubing and fittings to operate the valve.
7. 1 - Microfluidic valve controller to actuate the 6-port/2-position bidirectional fluid injection loop valve. The controller hardware must connect with existing Fluigent EZ flow 7mBar microfluidic pumps and must be operated with existing OxyGEN software.
