About this file
This document outlines specifications for an automated slide imaging system procurement. The Systematic Entomology Laboratory is seeking to acquire a GLISSANDOTM 20SL Digital Pathology Scanner or equal for rapid imaging of slide-mounted insect specimens. Minimum requirements include an all-in-one polarizing plus brightfield slide scanner capable of imaging one 50mm x 75mm slide or two 25mm slides at 0.5 microns per pixel resolution. The system must be able to automatically detect tissues, generate high resolution z-stacked images, and produce focus-stacked images of complete specimens. Related to this is federal contract opportunity number 12305B23Q0140 for an Automated Slide Scanner being procured by the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Northeast Area.

Tes ng and Verifica on
The slide imaging system will be tested by SEL scien sts upon arrival to verify the system operates as adver sed, providing high resolu on images of slide mounted insect specimens. To meet expecta ons, the system must be able to (1) automa cally detect ssues on the slide, (2) automa cally generate high resolu on z‐stacked images of the complete specimen, and (3) produce a focus stacked image of the complete specimen. This will be tested on mul ple slides to determine proper func onality.
Data Requirements
All manuals required for instruc on on proper opera on of the slide imaging system are to be provided.
Packaging and Shipping
The system must be securely packaged and shipped so that it arrives undamaged and in working order to the specified USDA des na on.
