About this file

The file is a detailed Specifications document for a USDA Agricultural Research Service solicitation seeking lateral flow combs for mycotoxin analysis. The procurement involves 50 kits, each containing 48 combs with 4 toxin strips designed to simultaneously quantify four mycotoxins (aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol, and zearalenone) in corn samples. Specific technical requirements include compatibility with an Envirologix QuickScan II machine, detection limits for each toxin (e.g., Aflatoxins at 2.7ppb), and the ability to analyze 1,200 corn samples.

The solicitation is structured as a Small Business Set-Aside with NAICS code 334516 and a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. Delivery is specified as 45 business days after award to the MWA National Center for Agricultural in Peoria, IL, with FOB Destination terms. The procurement will be conducted through a Request for Quotation (RFQ) process, with quoters required to complete FAR Provision 52.212-3 and submit documentation through the System for Award Management (SAM).

Text version

Project Purchase 2400 (50 kits of 48 combs each with 4 toxin strips) lateral flow combs with strips for simultaneous quantification of aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone.

General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

USDA scientists are seeking to procure lateral flow combs with strips for simultaneous quantification of aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone for analysis of 1200 corn samples. The flow strips/combs must allow for quantification of all four mycotoxins from a single extraction and the strips quantification need to be read by/ compatible with an Evirologix – QuickScan II machine.

2.0 Background

Corn is frequently contaminated with multiple mycotoxins and to assess mycotoxin contamination and food safety risk in corn samples we frequently have to quantify the amount of aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone. USDA scientists are conducing a survey that requires quantification of these multiple toxins from a little over 1000 samples. For the research the lateral flow combs with strips for simultaneous quantification of aflatoxin, fumonisin, deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone are needed for analysis of 1008 samples The flow strips/combs must allow for quantification of all four mycotoxins from a single extraction and the strips quantification need to be read by an Evirologix – QuickScan II machine.

· Each comb must have 4 strips that targets the aforementioned mycotoxins

· Must be able to be analyzed with existing Envirologix equipment- QuickScan II

· Must be able to provide a record of success of mycotoxin analysis in corn

· Must have limit of detection no less than indicated for each toxins: Aflatoxins 2.7ppb; DON 0.1ppm; Fumonisin 0.1 ppm; Zearalenone 50ppb.
