About this file

This document provides specifications for a compact high-power diode line laser solicitation. The Agricultural Research Service Environmental Microbial and Food Safety Laboratory plans to purchase an 808 nm compact high-power diode line laser with a minimum output power of 30 watts and spectral linewidth of less than 30 watts to develop a macro-scale line-scan Raman chemical imaging system for food safety research. The laser line must project approximately 20 centimeters onto samples and maintain a width of less than 20 centimeters at a distance of 40 centimeters. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 12305B23Q0122-2 for a Compact High-Power Diode Line Laser from the Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Northeast Area.

COMPACT HIGH-POWER RAMAN LINE LASER SPECIFICATIONS

I. BACKGROUND

The ARS Environmental Microbial and Food Safety Laboratory (EMFSL) in Beltsville, Maryland plans to purchase an 808 nm compact high-power diode line laser, brand name or equal to develop a compact macro-scale line-scan Raman chemical imaging system for food safety research. Since the laser will be projected to a long line (~20 cm) on the sample surface for high-throughput imaging measurement, the output power must be very high (>= 30 W) and the spectral linewidth must be very narrow (<=30 GHz) to ensure high laser power density for generating high-quality Raman scattering signals. We are looking for a compact imaging system without an external bulky water chiller.

II. REQUIREMENTS

The compact high-power Raman line laser, Brand Name or Equal must be capable of the following:

· Output power: >= 30 W

· Laser wavelength: 808 nm

· Spectral linewidth FWHM: <=30 GHz

· Laser line length at a distance of 40 cm: >= 20 cm

· Laser line width at a distance of 40 cm: <= 3 mm

· Type of polarization: linear

· Laser beam delivery: free space

· Spectral stability: <= ± 2.5 GHz over 4 hours of operation

· Amplitude stability: <= ± 0.5 % over 4 hours of operation

· Operating temperature: 15-25 °C

· Storage temperature: 10-50 °C

· GUI control software via USB connection

· No external water chiller
