About this file

This is a specifications document from the State of Michigan for the 12-year inspection and rebuild of an Aspen A62 Under Bridge Inspection Unit (Serial Number 10156), identified as Specification C10-0070UBR.20. The document outlines comprehensive inspection, maintenance, and restoration requirements for this specialized equipment used for bridge inspections. The scope of work encompasses 18 major work categories including visual and operational inspections, chassis and sub-frame work, front and rear axle lock servicing, turntable refurbishment, four-boom assembly overhauls, platform restoration, control and limit system upgrades, hydraulic system replacement, and final testing and finishing. All work must comply with manufacturer standards and current ANSI A92.8 stability testing requirements, with final testing including operational verification on a bridge.

The specifications require bidders to respond with agreement or propose alternates for each work item. The scope includes mandatory non-destructive testing for critical structural components, replacement of worn components including pins, bushings, hoses, wires, and fasteners, complete repainting using Dupont 43106X or equivalent paint to match original colors, installation of new electrical systems and limit switches, full hydraulic system service with new filters and oil, and comprehensive stability and operational testing. All removed items from the cab, chassis, and tower remain state property and must be returned with the unit. Specific electrical connection standards are mandated, prohibiting scotch locks and wire nuts in favor of soldered connections with heat shrink or waterproof junction blocks. The document does not specify pricing, contract term, award date, or other commercial terms.
