About this file

The document is a detailed specification for a Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing system sought by the ARS Environmental Microbial and Food Safety Laboratory (EMFSL) engineering team in Beltsville, Maryland. The requirements specify a fully integrated Print-Wash-Cure system with extensive capabilities, including a minimum build volume of 350 x 195 x 350 mm, masked stereolithography printer type, pixel size of 0.05mm or smaller, and layer thickness of 0.025 mm or thinner. The system must include two build platforms, two resin tanks and mixers for six different resins, post-print cleaning tools, and a three-year warranty.

The solicitation is a Total Small Business opportunity under NAICS code 334516 with a small business size standard of 1,000 employees. The RFQ (Request for Quotation) number is 1232SA25Q0578, with quotes due by 5:00 PM EST on 8/15/2025, to be submitted to brian.brusky@usda.gov. Specific resin requirements include multiple batches with varying properties such as ultimate tensile strength, static dissipative characteristics, elongation at break, and shore hardness. Notably, the solicitation explicitly excludes printers from manufacturers like Bambu Lab, Creality 3D, Anycubic, Elegoo, Flashforge, Piccreat, and Shining 3D, with delivery and acceptance to occur 60 days after award at the BARC-EAST facility in Beltsville, MD.

BACKGROUND

The ARS Environmental Microbial and Food Safety Laboratory (EMFSL) engineering team in Beltsville, Maryland plans to acquire a Stereolithography 3D printing system to support ongoing research projects. The system will enable rapid prototyping and efficient integration of sensing and instrumentation components that we develop. It will facilitate in-house, iterative development of high-resolution parts for prototype development for the engineering project team. Specifically, the engineering team will use the system to support instrumentation prototyping for the development of handheld devices.
