Specification Sheet Project: Liquid Handler Purchase
GENERAL INFORMATION
Background: The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Environmentally
Integrated Dairy Management Research Unit ARS (EIDMRU) Burch lab needs to procure a Liquid Handler brand name or equal to Beckman Coulter Biomek i5. This instrument would be used to increase throughput in the lab for both sample capacity as well as microbial target test load for groundwater and surface water contamination testing. The liquid handler would reduce error potentials and alleviate meticulous manual pipette steps, providing more robust data sets for publications or increasing the number of research objectives being completed.
Hands-on time spent in the lab by technicians would be reduced approximately 15- 20% overall per project, with a 70% reduction in the qPCR plating portion of the workflow. Technicians would be able to better utilize this time on more advanced laboratory tasks, researching new methods and literature, collecting samples, or other tasks requiring completion for a project.
Scope of Work: The USDA-ARS-EIDMRU, Burch lab is requesting the purchase of a new Liquid Handler Instrument brand name or equal to Beckman Coulter Biomek i5. Specifications for the purchase are listed below.
