SPECIFICATION SHEET
I. BACKGROUND
USDA, ARS, Plant Genetic Resources Unit, in Geneva, NY will require a seed drill that can be mounted on a tractor and is capable of direct seeding plots and single rows for field planting operations. Currently available equipment is not able to directly drill evenly spaced seeds in single rows or custom plot sizes which will be required for vegetable and hemp germplasm breeding and conservation evaluations and regenerations. This piece of equipment is required for evaluating and increasing hemp and vegetable germplasm. The drill will be used by the Vegetable and Hemp projects at the Plant Genetic Resources Unit at Geneva, NY.
II. REQUIREMENTS.
Capabilities:
● Safely protect operator during planting
● Capable of being mounted on a tractor’s 3-point hitch
● Wired for tractor GPS distance correction
● Belted cone capable of planting 90 cm wide plots with up to 7 center rows
● Capable of planting up to 7 distinct single rows where each row could contain a different genotype
● Double disk openers for direct drilling into prepared soil
● Operator seat and working table located on the drill
● Electronic control unit located on the drill
Specific Technical Requirements:
● Maximum drill width: 2.2 meters
● All metal frame with 3-point frame for a category 2, 3-point hitch
● Combination planting system capable of planting plots or single rows on a single frame
● Has at least 7 center plot rows that can be adjusted for various row spacings
● Overall seeding width up to 90 cm
● Double disk openers with depth adjustment and central pressure adjustment up to 160 kg
● Rear-mounted wheel frame with at least 5 closing wheels
● Forward distance measurement with a wheel sensor that can be corrected using GPS
● Manual and electronic triggering with offset indicator
● Control unit with 12 cm colored display with electrical power supplied by tractor
● Continuous electric drive seeding hopper with 13-liter capacity for planting various cover crops or adding fertilizer
● Belted cone with electric drive and roto seed distributer for plot and single row seeding that includes funnel and funnel cap
● Drill mounted table with 60 x 40 cm dimensions for loading magazines and working with seeds while working on the drill
● Drill mounted operator seat with adjustable height and spring power
● Includes at least 1000 12-chambered magazines, magazine covers and magazine tray holders

d. Delivery. The Contractor shall furnish and deliver (F.O.B. Destination, Within Consignee’s
Premises) the reagents to our USDA-ARS cooperator as follows:

Delivery shall be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.

V. Training and Documentation
Training. Technical support for the operation of the planter will be required when the planter and a GPS-compatible tractor have been procured. An operator’s manual written in English, outlining detailed instructions required to operate and service the implement will be required.
Documentation. The Contractor shall provide an electronic copy (by email to tyler.gordon@usda.gov) of delivery confirmation and standard technical specifications and instructions.
VI. Warranty. 1-year warranty required
