Specifications for Box Compression Tester

· Capable of satisfying requirements in TAPPI Standard T804 and ASTM Standard D642

· Power: 110 VAC or 220 VAC 3-Phase

· Minimum number of load cells used for force measurement: 3

· Rolling chassis

· Maximum machine height of 2.7 m

· Maximum Force: 80kN

· Minimum force resolution: 0.1 N

· Minimum platen size: 1.2 m x 1.2 m

· Minimum platen opening: 1.2 m

· Capable of test speeds from 2 mm/min to 120 mm/min

· Speed accuracy: ±1%

· Minimum support columns: 4

· Minimum column spacing: 1 m

· Moveable platen must incorporate 4 matched drive screws

· Have fixed and floating platen capability; changing from one to the other must be single operator operation

· Parallel platen adjustment/check capability

· Computer and software for equipment control and data acquisition

· External voltage or digital output for load & displacements for acquisition for another computer

· Signal conditioning for at least 3 external devices (±10V control), e.g., LVDTs and ability to read conditioned output signal from external computer

· Platen position control resolution to 0.1% of reading after zeroing

· Motor braking system for accurate motor control

· Must include safety systems for:

· Overload protection

· Upper & lower limits

· Rapid travel

· Computer software and controller running Windows 10 or later

· Fully customized and programmable

· Ability to create and store multiple test protocols and templates

· Calibration of each channel (displacement, load, LVDTs)

· Static and multi-step programming, e.g., go to load and hold for time period, followed by another load sequence (load or unload)

· Available closed loop control on any channel

· Data acquisition customization and exportation

· Event programming with parallel branches for execution and logical operators (if/then, while, etc.)

· Limit sensing, sequencing triggers and interface to digital I/O

· Meters (can be in software) showing current, min-max, command output and cycle counters

· Data reduction options for real-time data logging

· User selectable units: SI, metric, US, Imperial

· Must allow calibration by outside metrology vendors

· 12-month warranty including all software and firmware upgrades during warranty period at no additional charge
