About this file

This is a specification section for VEST Privacy Booths from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), detailing technical requirements for prefabricated single-occupant video conference booths with integrated lighting, ventilation, and communications capabilities. The specification outlines two booth sizes: a standard interior dimension of 35" x 35" x 84" and an accessible ADA-compliant model measuring 42" x 84" x 84". The specification identifies three acceptable manufacturers as the basis of design: PoPS (Pillar of Public Safety) in Chicago, Illinois; Cubicall in North Las Vegas, Nevada; and SpaceWorx in Laurel, Maryland. The document requires comprehensive submittals including product data, shop drawings with seismic anchor plans, lighting and communications diagrams, and 3D isometric images. A preinstallation coordination meeting with the CDCR Representative is mandated. No specific project quantities, response dates, award dates, or contract term information is provided in this technical specification document.

The specification establishes performance standards rather than pricing terms, requiring steel structures to carry a minimum 10-year manufacturer's warranty and all other components to have a minimum 1-year warranty. All exposed fasteners must be stainless steel and tamperproof in accordance with security standards. The booths must meet fire safety standards per ASTM E84 with flame spread ratings not exceeding 25 and smoke density not exceeding 450, and achieve a minimum STC rating of 35dB acoustic performance per ASTM E90. Detailed requirements are specified for walls, ceilings, doors, glazing, hardware, exhaust systems, LED lighting, ethernet connectivity, electrical receptacles, and videoconference device mounting. The specification permits substitutions for manufacturers not listed, contingent upon compliance with Section 01 25 00 Substitution Procedures, and requires all installations to be completed level and in accordance with CDCR Representative approval.
