This is a specification document from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for the rehabilitation of used transit bus drum brake shoe and lining assemblies. The specification outlines the requirements for the cleaning, disassembly, inspection, refinishing, and rehabilitation of used MBTA transit bus drum brake shoe and lining assemblies, as well as the requirements for providing new brake shoes, linings, and related parts to build new brake shoe and lining assemblies. The contractor must pick up the used assemblies from MBTA garages, complete the required work within 5 working days for rehabilitated assemblies and 20 working days for new assemblies, and deliver the completed assemblies back to the MBTA. The contract quantity is estimated at 6,500 rehabilitated assemblies and 500 new assemblies over a 12-month period, with the option for the MBTA to order an additional 6,500 rehabilitated assemblies and 500 new assemblies within one year.
The contractor must provide pricing for the rehabilitated and new brake shoe and lining assemblies, as well as for any unusable brake shoes. Payment will be made monthly based on the quantities delivered. The contractor must assume responsibility for properly disposing of all waste and debris from the rehabilitation process. The contractor must also provide technical support to the MBTA for six months after the last assembly is delivered.
