About this file

The document is a Mulching Head Specifications file detailing technical requirements for a mulching attachment for a Caterpillar 299D XPS skid steer loader. The specifications mandate compatibility with specific Caterpillar equipment, including a loader carrier attachment system, hydraulic coupling (345-5165 GP), and a 14-pin electrical receptor (Part# 344-6145). The mulching head must feature a drum-style cutting head with depth control, a minimum 59-inch cutting width, and the ability to cut trees 6-8 inches in diameter.

Additional requirements include bolt-on, replaceable cutting teeth that can be sharpened while attached, a pushing-style frame to direct trees away from the skid steer, and replaceable skid shoes. These specifications are part of a Source Sought Synopsis by the United States Marine Corps' Regional Contracting Office at Parris Island, seeking market research on potential vendors capable of providing nuisance animal control equipment for their facility.
