About this file
This is a Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) document for a Cylinder Assembly, Actuating, Linear (NSN 1450-00-737-2731). The document provides detailed packaging requirements including a Level B container specification conforming to ASTM-D6256, with specific dimensions of 54" x 14" x 9" for container ID and 56" x 16" x 14 1/4" for container OD. The package requires multiple components including straps, washers, lag bolts, barrier bags, cushioning materials, and wooden base structures, with all wooden packaging materials requiring heat treatment (HT) to 56°C/133°F for 30 minutes per international phytosanitary standards (ISPM No. 15).
The instruction includes specific assembly details shown through technical drawings, including a saddle assembly with detailed dimensions and a comprehensive parts list of 18 items with their quantities and specifications. Key requirements include wrapping sharp ends with cushioning material, securing block supports to the base with adhesive, and proper positioning of the weighted end on block supports. The package has a gross weight of 33 lbs and must meet a design fragility rating of 90. Previous packaged assets must be repackaged to meet the current SPI revision requirements.
