About this file
The document is a Special Conditions Appendix B from Sarasota County, Florida, outlining specific contractual responsibilities related to wastewater management at the Bee Ridge Water Reclamation Facility. The county has entered into a Consent Order with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and a Stipulated Order with Suncoast Waterkeepers, which imposes financial penalties for unpermitted wastewater discharges.
The special conditions detail the contractor's obligations to immediately control, contain, and stop any wastewater discharges, promptly repair facility damages, and notify the county project manager of any incidents. A penalty structure is established based on discharge volume, ranging from $600 for discharges up to 5,000 gallons to $12,000 for discharges exceeding 100,000 gallons. The contractor is required to reimburse the county for any penalties attributable to their actions, creating a strong financial incentive for preventing and quickly addressing any unauthorized wastewater releases.
