About this file
This document is a material specification for a resilient fastener 115/132 tie plate for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Maintenance of Way Division. The specification details the materials, manufacturing, inspection, and shipping requirements for the tie plates, which are used to secure the rails to the railroad ties. The tie plates must conform to AREMA (American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association) standards and MBTA Plan No. 231. The plates are made of low-carbon steel and have four-hole punching, with approved Pandrol-type weld-on shoulders. The plates will be inspected upon delivery and must be shipped neatly on pallets or in wood crates.
The related state and local contract opportunity is an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for the procurement of these cast restraining rail plates for the MBTA. The IFB is designated as 18C-21, and the contract is for the state of Massachusetts. No additional details are provided about the specific quantities, due dates, award dates, or contract term.
