About this file
This specification details requirements for purchasing 57 crew berthing racks for the US Coast Guard's 418 FT WMSL (Maritime Security Cutter Large) vessel. The contractor must provide new berthing racks manufactured according to OEM part number specifications (B228 / 8025-18-24), with a standard commercial warranty. Key requirements include submitting a test plan, material certificates, parts list, dimensional and testing reports for Coast Guard Contracting Officer review, and stamping each rack with a serial number for identification.
Packaging and shipping specifications are stringent, mandating individual preservation in reusable containers per MIL-STD-2073-1E, with specific marking requirements on shipping containers using machine-made stencils. Each berthing rack must be secured with blocking/cushioning, have protective covers for exposed threads, and be packaged to withstand multiple commercial shipments. Authorized shipments will be sent to the US Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center in Baltimore, MD, with detailed marking including stock number, item name, part number, contract number, serial number, and condition code.
