IN-PROCESS INSPECTION
Inspection shall be made at any point or during any phase of the manufacturing process to determine whether construction details that cannot be examined in the finished product are in accordance with specified requirements. This inspection shall include verification that the working patterns conform to the Government patterns in all respects. Whenever any nonconformance is noted, corrections shall be made to the affected items and lot in-process. Items that cannot be corrected shall be removed from production.
END ITEM VISUAL INSPECTION
The belt with buckle and clip shall be examined for the defects listed in Table V. Webbing defects shall be defined as in ASTM D3990. The clip and buckle defects that are not self-explanatory are defined in section 6.7. The lot shall be expressed in units of belts. The sample unit is one (1) belt. The inspection level and AQL shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. Unless otherwise specified, scoring shall be performed on defects visible from a normal inspection distance of 3-feet.

1/ T he Contractor shall submit a Certificate of Compliance for these characteristics.
2/ Elongation shall be determined as follows: A specimen of the elastic webbing shall be marked a distance of 10 inches is between the gauge marks. The webbing shall be suspended from a clamp in such a manner as to allow a weight to be hung on the lower end. The tension load (weight) shall be 15 pounds. The weight shall be gradually lowered until the entire load is carried by the webbing. After two (2) minutes, and while still under load, a measurement shall be taken between the two (2) marks and the increase in length is calculated as the percent elongation.
3/ Evaluate using AATCC EP 8, AATCC 9-Step Chromatic Transference Scale.
4/ Evaluate using AATCC EP 1, AATCC Gray Scale for Color Change.
5/ T he testing of one (1) sample is permitted.
6/ Evaluate using AATCC EP 2, AATCC Gray Scale for Staining.
