About this file

This document is a Standard Form (SF) 30 Amendment containing detailed questions and answers regarding a solicitation for 2-Sided Pipe Cradles for the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution (DLA Distribution Norfolk). The amendment provides specific clarifications about the cradle specifications, including material requirements of heat-treated red oak in FAS grade. Key details include precise dimensional specifications (40" length, 3" width, 3" height, with a 4" wide by 1" deep notch), and critical manufacturing constraints such as a prohibition on kiln-dried and laminated (glued) construction due to safety considerations when placing cradles between heavy steel cylinder bottles.

The solicitation (SP3300-26-Q-0031) is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial products, seeking to establish a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Purchase Order for these pipe cradles. The government intends to award one contract, which will be issued on Standard Form 1449. The procurement is not a Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) rated procurement, and quotes must meet the specified salient characteristics outlined in the attached specification sheet.

The purpose of this amendment is to:

1. Provide an answer to the questions as follows:

1. Could you please provide some pictures of the top, side, and bottom of the cradles. Also, can you provide a cut list/specification sheet. Do the holes in the support buttstock go all the way through the part?

· The cut list would be the actual size of the cradles are L- 40”, W- 3 ½ “, H- 3 ½” and the Notch size is 4 ½ “W X 1”D. Photo example for the cut list has been provided. I have attached the specification sheet for the wooden red oak cradles.

1. To be clear, must the cradles be made of heat-treated oak? Is there a top or bottom portion that doesn't have to be made from heat treated oak?

· Yes ,the cradles must be made with heat treated oak. The entire cradle must be heat treated.

1. What type of oak is expected? E.g heat-treated red oak or heat-treated white oak?

· Heat Treated Red Oak

1. What grade of heat treated oak is required? FAS, #1 common, #2 common, etc.

· FAS is required

1. For the notches, the drawing shows 1" D, can you please confirm that the depth is to be 1"?

· Yes 1”D is the depth

1. Would it be acceptable for the oak to be kiln-dried and laminated (glued) at the center to achieve the required thickness, provided that the final product meets all performance, durability, and specification requirements outlined in the solicitation?

· Kiln-dried and laminated (glued) would not be acceptable. We prefer it to not be glued at the center, because of safety purposes. We attached and placed these cradles in between heavy steel cylinder bottles so the all-around cradle is the safest method.

2. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
